The history of Biocenter goes back to the 80s, when a group of young people began their journey to defend a healthy and sustainable life. The Vida Sana manifesto, published in 1975, was the prelude to a long journey that gave way to the association with the same name and the Biocultura fair. But the roots of this movement were based, above all, in the different stores and restaurants that these people opened to offer an alternative food aligned with the values ​​they defended. One of these places was Biocenter and one of those people is Teresa do Carmo, owner of the restaurant.

In 1980, our restaurant was born. The first Biocenter location was smaller than the current space but on the same emblematic Pintor Fortuny street. We started with only 6 tables! Since then, all of our many customers - and friends - have made it possible for us to be a reference in the city.

As they grew, the daughters of Teresa do Carmo became involved with the restaurant, which has made it a very familiar space. At the right of the photo is Sofía, a sculptor and dancer (you can see her works of art displayed in the restaurant). Alice, the medium, has undertaken the firm SUNSAIS, for ecological and sustainable clothing. Susana, the youngest, trained in tourism, hospitality and cooking, is currently the executive chef of the restaurant. Since they were young, Teresa's three daughters have been involved with Biocenter as well as other projects related to the philosphy.

In 2015 we celebrated our 35th anniversary surrounded by friends, customers, workers and suppliers, in an unforgettable party in our premises. Our friend and music Ferran Savall ofered a very beautiful concert.
